  6. Proportion (noun) – percentage, part/amount; ratio.
  7. Apparent (adjective) – evident/clear, visible, noticeable, recognizable.
  8. Paradox (noun) – contradiction, mystery, conundrum, anomaly.
  9. Underlie (verb) – be the cause of, be the basis of, be the fundamental of.
  10. Hospitalisation (noun) – the act of taking (or) admitting someone to (or) in hospital for treatment.
  11. Effectiveness (noun) – efficacy, successfulness, potency.
  12. In spite of (phrase) – despite, notwithstanding, regardless of.
  13. Unvaccinated (adjective) – not vaccinated to provide immunity against a disease.
  14. Lineage (noun) – a collection of signature variants that defines a specific line of virus; line, sequence.
  15. Mutation (noun) – a significant and basic “alteration/variation” in the dna sequence.
  16. Strain (noun) – a lineage that has acquired new properties compared to the original virus; variety, kind, type.
  17. So far (phrase) – until now, up to the present, up to this point.
  18. Efficacy (noun) – in medicine, the ability of an intervention (for example, a drug or surgery) to produce the desired beneficial effect; effectiveness, efficiency, power.
  19. Symptomatic (adjective) – relating to a condition/person with symptoms.
  20. Asymptomatic (adjective) – relating to a condition/person with no symptoms.
  21. Considerable (adjective) – substantial, appreciable, significant; much.
  22. Confront (verb) – tackle, deal with, address, grapple with, face up to.
  23. Vulnerable (adjective) – endangered, unsafe, unprotected, unguarded ill-protected; easily affected by, prone to, at risk of.
  24. Evolution (noun) – progress, advancement, progression, development.
  25. Mutate (verb) – undergo (genetic change).
  26. In the pipeline (phrase) – in the process of being planned/developed.
  27. Tweak (verb) – adjust, modify, alter, tune, change (finely).
  28. Accommodate (verb) – serve, meet the needs of, cater for.
  29. Tune (verb) – attune, adapt, adjust.
  30. Rely on (phrasal verb) – depend on; resort to, have recourse to.
  31. Pipeline (noun) – a system supplying goods.
