  1. Monopolise (verb) – to have complete control over something (a particular product or service).
  2. Dub (verb) – call, name, tag.
  3. Emulate (verb) – imitate, follow, mirror; take as a model, take as an example.
  4. Exorbitantly (adverb) – excessively, unreasonably, prohibitively, inordinately, immoderately, disproportionately.
  5. Ubiquitous (adjective) – widespread, common, present everywhere, all over, worldwide, global, universal.
  6. Imperative (adjective) – vitally important, necessary, essential, crucial/critical.
  7. Off the block (phrase) – at the very beginning; immediately.
  8. Not far behind (phrase) – come behind/follow closely.
  9. Bring in (phrasal verb) – introduce, put forward,  propose, present, initiate.
  10. Reportedly (adverb) – supposedly, seemingly, apparently, professedly, ostensibly, purportedly.
  11. Ambit (noun) – bounds, confines, limits, range.
  12. Draft law (noun) – a preliminary version of something (a law).
  13. Seek (verb) – try, aim, attempt.
  14. Gatekeeper (noun) – someone/something that controls access to something else.
  15. Comply with (verb) – abide by, adhere to, conform to, follow.
  16. Dos and don’ts (phrase) – rules that one should follow.
  17. Fair (adjective) – reasonable, satisfactory, acceptable, respectable, decent, good enough, adequate, sufficient.
  18. Centre around (verb) – focus, concentrate, pivot, hinge on.
  19. Senator (noun) – a member of the senate (the upper house or chamber in some bicameral legislative systems. (for example in the US, Australia, Canada).
  20. Along the same line (phrase) – in a similar way or method.
  21. Backdrop (noun) – situation, background, scenario, context.
  22. Sue (verb) – take legal action against, take to court, bring an action against, bring a suit against.
  23. Move (noun) – measure, step, action.
  24. Trigger (verb) – cause, prompt, give rise to, bring about.
  25. Oust (verb) – remove, dislodge, overthrow.
  26. Put up (phrasal verb) – propose, put forward, suggest, recommend.
  27. On the back foot (phrase) – in a defensive position, off balance, at a disadvantage.
  28. Angst (noun) – anxiety, apprehension, distress, disquiet, worry.
  29. Antitrust (adjective) – relating to something (e.g. A legislation) which is controlling monopolies and supporting fair and equal competition.
  30. Allegation (noun) – charge, accusation, indictment.
  31. Drastic (adjective) – extreme, serious, forceful.
  32. Silo (noun) – any system/process/department which is unable to operate with others. It functions alone and does not wish to share information with others.
  33. Democratise (verb) – make something available to everyone.
  34. Proprietary (adjective) – branded, own-brand.
  35. Undermine (verb) – weaken, subvert, sabotage, damage.
